FoodBIOPack, a project of Sumy National Agrarian University, won the Sustainability Award.
"A drop of the polysaccharide solution dries to form an elastic film similar to polyethylene," the scientists explain. "The material made from this film decomposes in just a month and turns into organic fertilizer.

The researchers say that the bio-packages can even be soaked, cut, and cooked into vegan noodles. Already during the competition, the startup attracted investors from Portugal, Egypt, and Denmark.
