The project of Sumy National Agrarian University's FoodBIOPack project won the Sustainability Award.
"A drop of the polysaccharide solution dries to form a elastic film, similar to polyethylene," the scientists explain. "The material made from this film decomposes in just a month and turns into organic fertilizer."
The bio-package can even be soaked, cut, and cooked into vegan noodles, the researchers say, Khmarochos reports. During the competition, the startup attracted investors from Portugal, Egypt, and Denmark.
