Threads, Facebook's newest messaging app, is designed to allow users to privately share photos between themselves and their closest friends.

What are Threads?

Threads - is an app to keep up with your close friends. It's a place where you can quickly share photos, videos, statuses, and stories with your Instagram friends list. Instagram Close Friends allows you to share a story only with people on this list. You can create or edit your Close Friends list using the Instagram app.

Who uses it?

Since its launch in October 2019, it is still a relatively new app, so it is difficult to determine the age group of users. However, we do know that the app is intended for Instagram users.

What is the minimum age limit for the application?

In app stores, the age limit is 12 years and older, but the minimum age for Instagram is 13 years and older.

How do Threads work?

To share and receive messages on Threads, you need an existing Instagram account or you can sign up for an Instagram account if you don't have one.

Only close friends

Threads works by using your Instagram friend list. If you haven't created a close friend list on Instagram, you can still create one with the Threads app. You can edit your close friends list at any time in the settings.

Automatic state

You can turn on "auto status" which allows Threads to track and update your status based on your location, traffic, battery level, and network connectivity when you're not using the app. Only people selected in your Close Friends list can see your status.

Sending and receiving messages

To take photos and record videos, you need to allow Threads access to the camera and microphone on your device. Once you have access, you can take photos and record videos, as well as upload existing ones from your Gallery and share them with all users in your close friends or specific people. Your close friends don't need to download the Threads app to receive messages.

The posts you make in Threads will appear in your Instagram stories, and your close friends will receive Instagram notifications and/or threads (depending on whether their notification settings are enabled).

Depending on your Instagram settings, you may be able to access previous direct messages sent to people in your close friends list.

Personalize it

Users can give apps and icons a custom look by choosing from a variety of themes. You can add stickers, GIFs, hashtags, location tags, mentions, texts, and drawings to your photos or videos, just like you do on Instagram.

Using settings in Threads

The app includes many features that help manage who can see their profile and how to interact with others. They can also use the Report a Problem feature to flag any content that violates community guidelines and annoys them.

Step-by-step instructions

• Select Close friends: Select who you want to add to your Close Friends list.
• Setting up notifications: You have the option to receive notifications from your close friends by selecting "Enable". You will then see a "Streams" or "Do not allow" request to send you notifications.
• Home camera: You can create up to 8 shortcuts to your close friends' cameras. This step is optional and you can skip it.
• Automatic status: Select if you want to enable automatic status to keep your friends up to date with your current status, such as Home, Shopping, etc. This step is optional and you can skip this step.
• Choose your theme. Give your apps and icons a custom look by choosing from a range of themes. This step is optional and you can skip it, you're done!

What are the security features of the program?

Since it is a companion app to Instagram, you can use the same reporting and blocking features to report any concerns about the app. You can also turn your "automatic status" on and off to determine whether your close friends can see where you are or what you're doing when the app is open or closed.
