Mirror waiters

Many waiters use the "mirroring" technique. It is manifested in the fact that they repeat the customer's order word for word and thus increase their tips by 50% - 70%. Why does mirroring lead to generosity from another person?

Researchers Tanya Chartland and John Bargh have shown that similarities in human behavior evoke sympathy and strengthen communication. They conducted an experiment in which two people (one of them was a researcher) interacted with each other. In the first half of the cases, the researcher mirrored the behavior and movements of the other person. In the second half of the cases, the researcher did not repeat anything after the other person.

The result was that the participants liked the person who mirrored them more. It was easier for them to find a common language with him. That's why waiters who completely repeat the customer's words get more tips because of their sympathy. After all, we always want to make people we like happy.

For example, you can repeat the client's words in the form of a question ("So you're saying that you want to buy 2 tickets to Spain now, and in August you want to order 3 tickets?").
This will definitely improve your mutual understanding and increase the return on investment for your clients.
