12 rules for doing business in Ukraine

The result is equal to the result

Every time we fail, we explain it away as a crisis, traffic jams, a small budget, a bad manager or the government. But no one is interested in excuses. They will only ask us for the result.

Not a courier

The courier's task is to deliver an item from one place to another, and the courier does not care what it is or what it is for. We ourselves often don't think about why we are doing it, what we expect to get and how it will affect the rest of our work. This is an inefficient approach. You don't just have to do your job, you have to understand what you are doing.

Do not keep the layer under water

If you dip a ball in water, it tends to pop out. People are not used to expressing their dissatisfaction and their grievances, so any little thing can play the role of a detonator, and then everything comes to mind. You need to talk to your employees and come to an agreement.

If you manage to build relationships with your colleagues so that they do not remain silent when they do not understand something, the atmosphere in the company will be healthy and the business will be efficient.

Make a deal on the shore

If you discuss with people in advance what is good and what is bad, most will successfully play by these rules.

If you mess up, admit it

If something goes wrong, you need to do two things: admit the mistake and fix it. There is no need to argue that it is not a mistake but a bad vehicle, no need to make up reasons: just fix it and move on. There is no point in making excuses - neither economic nor emotional, it is a waste of time.

Check, double check

In any situation, you need to check everything that can be checked. This saves a lot of unnecessary work. For example, a question about the client's budget, asked at the first meeting, saves two weeks of work for a team of seven people.

Such simple actions help people live much happier lives, save money, nerves and time, and not waste themselves on stress, fatigue and overwhelming workloads.

Work is not personal

Do not use the company's resources for personal purposes.

Every employee of the company should make decisions based on whether it is good for the business. This applies not only to managers but also to owners. This is not about greed, but about efficiency. There are situations when an expensive solution reduces risks or saves time.

A leader is a profession

He should never succumb to emotions; he should create a culture of trust and respect in the company.

Trust - is when I can trust you to do your job on your own. А respect - when I respect you as a person and accept you as an equal, even though we have different roles.

For an employee to treat work as his or her own business, and not as a duty for money, the business needs to help him or her achieve his or her own goals. And here the manager, by asking the right questions, should provoke the person to formulate these goals.

Learn to stop

If you have already offered your client all possible options, lowered your budget, and tied a bow, and they still say no, then you don't need to endlessly redesign your product so that they still like it.

It's just that this client doesn't need your product. He doesn't need gasoline right now because he doesn't have a car. You need to be able to accept this and move on to the next one. And you can try to return to this project in six months.

Grow with the company

If you have 30 people in your management, you can talk to each of them personally. In a company with 1,000 employees, everything works differently. It is important that the owner's or CEO's brain has time to expand in parallel with the expansion of the company. Therefore, it is very important to understand how people think who have been through this and have already moved a couple of steps forward.

Competition is a good thing

If ideas are stolen from me, I am happy, it means we have made a good product. We do not poach employees from other companies and do not allow people who have come from other agencies to work with their old clients. And we ask our employees not to do the same if they leave us.

Ukraine is a country of opportunities

Western businesses have an easier life because they have a transparent system of interaction with the government and clear rules of the game. Therefore, before we are cut off from oxygen, restricted from traveling abroad, private property is abolished, and currency circulation is restricted, we need to work.
