The Sumy National Agrarian University project - FoodBIOPack - won in the category Sustainability Award.
"A drop of a solution of polyaccharide, drying out, gives an elastic film, similar to polyethylene," the scientists explain. "The material made from this film is decomposed in just a month and turns into organic fertilizer. "
The BioPacket can even be soaked, cut and cooked with vegan noodles, say the researchers. Already during the competition, the startup has attracted investors from Portugal, Egypt and Denmark.
